White Williams is 1st on my iPhone

For the last month, the only thing that's kept me entertained has been iPhone commercials. I'm actually writing this blog post from a line outside of the Apple store on Prince St. There are about 75 other people here camping out with me and by this time on Friday, if all goes as planned I'll be writing this shit from my iPhone, the greatest phone, ipod, and computer known to man.

But before I become cooler than most of you, I had to do this post about the best new music I've heard in way too long. Get ready for White Williams, whose melodic sense could have only come from Ohio. This is the guy who's gonna make Tigerbeat6 synonymous with GE and Coke.

Man Man

A friend of mine who works for the William Morris Agency had tickets to see Modest Mouse the other night and invited me along. I figured it would at least be a good opportunity for some backstage booze schmooze. It ended up that Man Man was the opener and despite having to play to a fairly mixed reaction and people still filtering into the show, they managed to put on a great set. And while I don't usually get into this sort of vagabond vaudeville circus act, I found them to be quite entertaining.

Bonde do Role at Studio B w/ Klaxons

I'm not a Klaxons hater. I think they're fine. Though I'll admit reading their news item in the New York Times today, I felt slightly turned off.

Friday was the second time I've seen Bonde do Role at Studio B. The first being another nightmarishly over-sold affair, that time starring Diplo. The rapidly climbing hype surrounding Bonde do Role is pretty palpable and it's easy to understand why. Brazil by way of Diplo: so far, so good.
